Comment: This hand is a good example of a dissection aimed at teaching. The model was rigorously prepared , with no intention of staging.
The arteries were injected with red wax, the veins with blue wax. Muscles and nerves were separated.
This can be explained by the initial training of Fragonard as a surgeon - he remained attached to human dissection.
